Merry Christmas everyone! I hope you’re enjoying this beautiful day, and that you’re spending time with your loved ones. Christmas is the best day of the year in my opinion, and to prove that I’ll be giving you 10 reasons why I love Christmas today. Keep on reading!
1. Family & friends.
The very best thing about Christmas is spending quality time with your family and friends. Throughout the year we’re all so busy with our own problems and stuff, that we sometimes forget about the people we love and care about. I really feel like Christmas is an exception to that. During Christmas we can finally spend some time with our loved ones. I love playing board games all day with my family, and watching Christmassy movies with my boyfriend. It’s so cozy and fun!
2. The Christmas tree.
Who doesn’t love a nicely decorated Christmas tree. I know I do love that. When December has come, I can’t wait for the Christmas tree to make it’s entrance. I love it from decorating it to unwrapping the gifts underneath it. It’s just the best tree ever.
3. Decoration.
Besides a Christmas tree, the house needs to be decorated. I love that so much. I’m actually way too over excited for that, but that’s not important. I love it when I walk outside and all streets are decorated, the world looks just a little bit extra cozy during this time which really gets me into the Christmas spirit.
4. Food.
This is a very obvious one. Christmas basically means eating so much food you’ll explode. Well, I personally don’t mind that. I love the Christmas themed chocolates, the candy canes, the deserts and the brunch. It’s so super delicious!
5. Christmas shopping.
I love buying presents for everyone. This might sound a little creepy, but throughout the entire year I try to pick up as many hints as I can get from the people I want to buy gifts for and I remember that so I can give that specific item to that person for Christmas. You don’t even want to know how excited I get when I bought something for someone when I know that person will absolutely love it.
6. Christmas themed limited editions.
This might be the best thing. Around Christmas time stores start to come out with their Christmas collections, which are basically the best collections ever.
7. The night before Christmas, a.k.a. Christmas eve.
Oh my, how I love Christmas eve. Even though the same exact thing happens every year, I still love it. We always start off with a nice dinner, followed by a desert consisting out of Vienetta ice cream. After that it’s time for the most cheesy but romantic TV show called “All You Need Is Love”. That lasts about three hours, which is way too long for my grandfater (who strongly dislikes it), and after that it’s time for bed.
8. Second Christmas day.
What I love about the Netherlands is that we have two days of all fun holidays. We have two days of Easter, two days of Christmas, etc. I’m not sure if they have that too in other countries, but I can tell you it’s pretty amazing. The best thing about it is that I get to spend one day with my family, and one day with my boyfriend. I wouldn’t be able to fit that all into one day.
9. Dressing up.
Another great thing about Christmas is that it’s a good excuse to dress up really nicely. You can finally wear your party dress again, you can go all out with your eyeshadow look and put on your favorite bright lipstick. Isn’t that what we beautylovers love most?!
10. Christmas music.
And finally, Christmas music. I love the crap out of that. I do have to be honest and tell you I’ve been listening to it for the past few months already, and I don’t mind listening to it in the middle of the summer, but on Christmas day it’s even better. It’s the most festive music on earth.
