With prom coming up I wanted to try out a fake tanning lotion. I’m very, very pale and I’m just not capable of tanning, so fake tan is my only option. After doing some research I figured this one by St. Moriz was a very good one to start off with, so I decided to order it. Today I’m going to share the results and whether I think it’s worth the money or not. If you’re interested in finding out, keep on reading!
The lotion comes in a long slim bottle. There are two different versions available; medium and dark. I chose medium since I’m pretty pale usually, and dark would be a bit too much for me. The bottle isn’t really pretty, but it’s not really bad too. The positive thing is that the bottle does provide you with lots of information. Both on the front as well as on the back it tells you a lot about the product, about application and some tips.
The tanning lotion is supposed to give your skin a healthy golden tan. It also says that it’s made for all skin types. But to be honest, if I had very sensitive skin, I wouldn’t risk it.
On the back it gives you important information on application. If you’re new to tanning like me, it’s important to read this carefully. It’s actually really simple. I used latex gloves to protect my hands, but you can also buy one of their tanning mitts. When it comes to application it’s important to exfoliate the skin properly and then apply it and blend it in using circular motions. Easy as that.
The only thing to keep in mind is that the application does take quite a while if you want to do it properly. Don’t try to rush it, because that will result in streaks. It took me about half an hour to cover my entire body and face.
The thing I like about this lotion is that you can use it on both your body and face. That’s not always the case, so I was very happy to find that out. But, this lotion does have its downside. In the beginning I though it smelled really nice but after 24 I definitely changed my mind. I smelled like a balloon!
The lotion also claims to be moisturising. I don’t fully agree with that. I wasn’t able to use a body lotion or butter after applying this because you’re not supposed to get in contact with anything fluid or watery within 6-8 hours and I felt that. After a good night rest my skin felt pretty dry.
Another thing I think is nice to mention is that this product has a very nice feature to it, which is especially great for newbies. As you might be able to tell from the picture, the lotion is super dark. The nice thing about it is that when it’s all blended in you can still see a little difference between the skin you haven’t done yet and the parts that are already covered in lotion. This makes applying it a lot easier, because you don’t have to worry about missing a sport.
And here it is, the thing I guess you were most curious about, the result. I applied the lotion at 8 PM and this after picture is taken at about 2 PM the next day. It’s such a big difference. But even though it’s so different, it still is very natural looking. I really love the result! It was also almost completely streak free. I only had some trouble around the edges of the gloves I was wearing. I didn’t realise I had to blend that in a little better too, but that was completely my own fault.
The color lasts like this for about 2 days. The second day it’s already a bit less dark, but there is still a clear difference. After the third-fourth day it’s almost completely gone.
Overall I can say that I’m a pretty big fan of this tanning lotion. I really love my skin color after using it and how natural it looked. I also think that this particular lotion is perfect for those of you who have never tanned before like me, because it’s pretty easy and fool proof. I highly, highly recommend it!
