Bourjois Shine Edition Lipstick

Because I finished my final exams I decided I should treat myself by buying a lipstick. So I went to the store and chose one. It ended up being the Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick because it looked just really pretty to me. I haven’t heard too much about it, so therefore I decided it might be a good idea to review it. And that’s what I’ll be doing today. If you’re interested, keep on reading!

The Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick comes in a really pretty shiny silver packaging with pastel yellow details. Not all colors had the pastel yellow details. That color depends on the shade lipstick you choose. Through the bottom of the packaging you can tell which color you’re dealing with. I really like that, because this way you don’t have to open every single lipstick in order to find the color you want.

Over all I think the packaging looks really classy and chic. It definitely gives me a more luxurious feeling than a simple Essence lipstick would give me. It’s also pretty heavy which makes it feel even more luxurious.

The color I bought is called Famous Fuchsia, which is (surprise, surprise) a fuchsia color. I normally don’t really like fuchsia, but I do love this color. I don’t really know why. The thing that makes these Shine Edition lipsticks so special is that they are very shiny and slightly sheer, but still pigmented enough. I really like those kinds of lipsticks. It does feel really nice and moisturising on the lips and it doesn’t feel heavy at all. The feeling is comparable to the feeling of Baby Lips.

Another thing I really love about shiny and sheer lipsticks is that they allow you to wear a daring color, even if you normally don’t feel comfortable wearing bright colors because this lipstick doesn’t look as extreme as normal bright lip colors.

Even though the color is shiny and slightly sheer, it’s still very pigmented. I think that’s a great feature because this way people who do like bright lip colors can wear it as well. It’s kind of perfect for everybody.

The thing I probably love most about this lipstick is the texture. It’s absolutely amazing. It doesn’t feel drying a bit and it doesn’t accentuate any dry patches on my lips at all, which is great because I tend to have those. I also really like the shine. It’s not a glittery shine, but just a nice and kind of creamy shine. Because of that shine your entire face will look a lot more healthy, fresh and awake.

The only kind of down side about this lipstick is the staying power. It does not survive a meal or a drink, but it does survive just living. I personally don’t mind it if lipsticks aren’t that long lasting, but if you do I would suggest skipping this one. I do think that if you don’t eat and drink the staying power is more than decent, but it’s not realistic to think you won’t eat and drink for 5 hours.

Over all you could say that I’m a pretty big fan of this lipstick. Besides the staying power I would say this lipstick is perfect. I think it’s perfect for both people who do and people who don’t like wearing bold and daring colors, but also for people who do. I highly recommend giving it a go!

The Bourjois Shine Edition lipstick is available at stores such as Superdrug, Douglas and Etos for about €13,95.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you’d want to give this lipstick a try!
