When it comes to shower gels my favorite brand on earth is definitely Balea. Balea is a brand sold by DM Drogerie, a German drugstore. I found out about the brand through the internet and I fell in love with it. It’s super affordable and they have tons of different products and scents. During my last shopping trip to Germany I bought three Balea shower gels, and I’m going to be reviewing them today. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not I like these as much as I like the other Balea shower gels that I own, keep on reading!
The very first shower gel I’m going to be discussing today is a limited edition one. It’s from their summer limited edition range which consists out of three different scents. I bought two of them before and now I bought the third one as well. It’s called “Paradise Beach”. The thing I like about Balea’s limited editions is that they come in super fun packagings. Their normal packagings are not bad, but these are just a little bit extra special. This one has blue, pink and purple all over it which gives it that summery look.
The reason why I didn’t buy this version back when I bought the other two is because this one smells like pineapple and coconut, according to the packaging. I absolutely hate the smell of coconut so that really held me back from buying it. This time I decided to smell it before looking at the packaging to see what it smells like and I actually liked the scent, so I bought it.
The fun thing about this shower gel is that the shower gel itself has a fun color too. This one has a purply pink color. The color of the shower gel is similar to the color of the lid. I like that they do that because it just adds that little bit extra specialness.
When it comes to moisturising your body I feel like the Balea shower gels are pretty nice. They aren’t extremely moisturising, but no shower gel is. The most important thing is that they won’t dry out my skin which sounds obvious, but isn’t always the case. Especially when you consider this shower gel costs less than one Euro, you don’t expect that much from it.
The second shower gel I bought is from their regular collection. It’s in the scent “Raspberry & Lemon Grass”. Normally I wouldn’t go for anything that smells like raspberry because everything raspberry causes me to get headaches (that sounds weird but it’s true). But for some reason Balea is just amazing at making scents I usually hate smell really good. I think it’s because the raspberry isn’t overpowering and the lemon grass adds that extra bit of freshness.
Because this one isn’t limited edition, it doesn’t have a special packaging. Even though it doesn’t have that I still think the packaging looks pretty good. I like the pink color and how they displayed the scent on the front. It’s not the most gorgeous packaging in the world, but I definitely don’t hate it.
I think this shower gel is perfect for every day of the year. Whether it’s summer or winter, this shower gel is appropriate for anything because of it’s sweetness, combined with a hint of freshness but it still has that bit of creaminess in it. I’m so impressed by this combination. I wouldn’t have come up with it myself, that’s one sure thing, but I’m really glad Balea did.
Another thing I like about the Balea shower gels is that they are great at cleansing your body. Some creamier shower gels like the ones by Dove tend to make me feel like there is still a bit of dirt left because of the extreme creaminess. The Balea shower gels are different. They do moisturise your skin, but they are not too creamy. After washing my body with it I feel completely clean and fresh, which is obviously what you want when you’re using a shower gel.
The last shower gel I’m reviewing today is in the scent “Melon”. Water melon to be precise. I heard a lot about this on the internet, but I wasn’t too sure whether was going to like it or not since I’m not a huge fan of water melon. I don’t hate it, but it’s pretty taste and scentless, so I just wasn’t sure if it was going to be a hit or a miss. Now that I have it I have to say that I do like it. I don’t like it as much as the other two, but I do think it’s a nice scent.
Just like I mentioned before, the scents aren’t too overpowering. You can definitely smell the melon in this shower gel, but it’s not like you’re washing yourself with a water melon. As shown on the picture on the bottle there is also some kind of milky fluid in this shower gel, which evens out the wateriness of the water melon. I think that’s why I ended up liking it.
The very last thing I want to mention about Balea shower gels in general is that they are just great. They look nice, they smell amazing and they are amazing at being shower gels. They aren’t too fancy or whatever, they just moisturise and cleanse your skin and that’s it. That’s all it’s supposed to do and that is what it does. I like that Balea doesn’t make all those annoying fancy promises that are literally never even true and that they just create normal simple shower gels that do what they should do. Good job Balea!
So I think it’s clear I love the Balea shower gels. It would be weird if I didn’t considering the fact I have about six of them haha. I think the quality is just amazing and the scents are great as well. I really like their limited editions, but their normal shower gels are absolutely amazing too. If you ever find yourself in a DM Drogerie I highly recommend buying one or two (or six) of these shower gels, they’re worth it.
The Balea Shower Gels are available at DM Drogerie for €0,55.
That was it for today. I hope you liked reading today’s review and let me know if you’ve ever tried a Balea shower gel!
