When it comes to budget proof eyeshadow palettes I absolutely adore the brand MUA. When I went to London I decided to buy a few of their palettes, one of which is the Romantic Efflorescence palette. I really loved the way it looked in the packaging so I decided to take it with me. Today I’m going to review it. If you’re interested in finding out more about it, keep on reading!
Like most other MUA palettes, the Romantic Efflorescence palette comes with 12 different eyeshadow colors. The packaging it comes in is pretty much the same as usual, but instead of the plastic being black it’s white. I don’t really know if that has any kind of meaning but I’m assuming it’s just because they thought it’d look prettier.
Most palettes I own are warm toned. I absolutely love warm eyeshadow colors and I wear those almost every single day. When I saw this palette on the internet I really loved the way it looked, but when I saw it in stores I realized most colors in this palette are actually cool toned. Even though that kind of disappointed me, I still decided to buy it.
When I decided to use this palette to create an eyeshadow look with it the other day the first thing that stood out to me was the fact that there is not a single color I would like to use as an eyelid shade in here. The gold on the right hand corner is way too bronze and too yellowy for me and the second last color from the bottom row turned out too be way too cool toned. I really struggled with making it work and I ended up taking the eyeshadows off because I just really wasn’t satisfied.
But a positive thing I noticed while applying these shadows was that they are amazingly pigmented. It wasn’t hard to get the color to be as intense as I would have liked them to be. That’s absolutely amazing, especially when you consider the fact this palette costs only 4 pounds!
So, as you can tell from the pictures the pigmentation is alright. Even the matte shades are pigmented enough for me. Especially in combination with a cream eyeshadow as a base this palette could be used to create pretty intense and pigmented eyeshadow looks. I really like that about it. Another thing I like about it is that there is a very pretty purple shade in here. Most neutral palettes don’t come with shades like that, and I do love that this palette does.
Quality wise I think the Romantic Efflorescence palette is absolutely amazing. I’m really, really impressed. But when it comes to the colors that are in there I just don’t think it’s meant for me. Most shades are just way too cool toned for me and I just couldn’t make it work. I do want to give it another chance in combination with and eyelid shade from another palette, but on its own, it’s just not a palette for me.
Anyhow, I do recommend this palette to all of you who do like cool toned eyeshadows and who have a cool undertone to their skin. If you don’t, you might want to skip this one!
The MUA Romantic Efflorescence Palette is available at Kruidvat for €5,99 and Superdrug for £4,-.
