Nivea Men Aftershave Balm Senstive

NikkieTutorials has always been one of my favorite Youtubers ever. I just love her personality and I think she has so much talent. In one of her video’s she mentioned that she loved using the Nivea Men Aftershave Balm as a primer. It sounds kind of odd knowing it’s a mans product and it’s not an actual primer, but because I trust her I decided to give it a try. After testing it thoroughly it’s time for me to review it. The Nivea Men Aftershave Balm comes in a pretty big box. On the box it tells you what this balm is supposed to do, but since we’re not going to use this as a aftershave, it’s kind of irrelevant. When you open up the box you’ll find a pretty huge white glass bottle. The bottle has some ark blue and gray details on it, which looks pretty manly but also pretty clean and in green it says that this product doesn’t contain any alcohol. There is a version that does contain alcohol, but since alcohol is bad for your skin I decided to go with this one.

The first thing that made me love this product is the fact that this bottle contains 100 ml of product. HUNDRED ml! That’s insanity. Most primers come in tubes of 30 ml or less, so this is a pretty good deal. The best thing off all is that this bottle is super budget proof, it’s only about €7,60. That’s super cheap for such a large amount of product.

On the box it says that this balm soothes skin irritations immediately and that it improves the condition of the skin. Even though I’m not using this as an aftershave, that’s still pretty nice. On the side of the box it says which ingredients are in the product. According to Nikkie the glycerin is what makes it work so amazingly. Good thing glycerin is the second ingredient on the list, which means there’s a lot in here!

You  might wonder if this product actually smells like men. The answer to that question is yes! I don’t hate the smell, I actually kind of like it, but it is definitely a super manly smell. The scent is pretty strong at first, but after you apply the rest of your makeup it’s basically gone.

The most important question that I’m going to answer today is: does it actually work? Hell yes it does! I was a little skeptical at first because it’s not that common to use aftershave balm as primer, but o my. I’m so thankful that Nikkietutorials shared this tip with us. It literally changed everything. When I use this as a primer, after my skin care routine and before any other makeup my makeup will last all day. And I’m not exaggerating this. I applied this at 6 AM in the morning, I went to work for 9 hours and when I took of my makeup at about 11 PM in the evening, everything from foundation to concealer to brows to eyeshadow was still there. If that doesn’t impress you I don’t know what does.

The consistency of the product is a lot different from the consistency of most primers since it’s not an actual primer. I do really like this consistency. It’s pretty thin and runny and it’s super easy to blend in. There is no silicone feeling involved, it doesn’t feel as greasy as other primers and it sinks into the skin super, super quickly.

I think it’s clear by now that I absolutely love the Nivea Men Aftershave Balm as a primer. It has literally changed my mind. Besides it being the most amazing primer I have ever tried, it’s also super affordable and you get such a lot of product. I seriously never want to use anything else again, this product is AMAZING!
