A few Catrice collection updates ago Catrice launched their Absolute Nude eyeshadow palette. Ever since then they are creating more and more of them. Most of them didn’t really impress me, but after seeing a makeup tutorial including the newest one, the Chocolate Nudes I knew I needed to get it, so I did. Today I’m going to be reviewing it and telling you guys if this palette is better than the previous one and if it’s worth the money. If you’re interested, keep on reading!
The Catrice Chocolate Nudes palette comes in the same packaging as all other palettes from this range. It’s long and slim, has a black bottom and a clear lid. I like it. It looks clean, professional and simple and you know what you’re getting only by looking at it. I also really like the colors on the letters on the front, it really adds something!
The palette contains six different shades of eyeshadow. All shades are a bit chocolaty, like the name of the palette suggests. I love chocolaty eyeshadow colors so this palette is pretty much right up my ally color wise. All colors in the palette are very wearable and basic, but a little more special than your usual nudes.
The first two colors in the palette are both highlighters. The first one has a bit of shimmer to it, it’s not super shimmery, but there is some shimmer there, and the other one is slightly more yellow and matte. I like both of them a lot. I prefer using the shimmery one in my inner corner and/or just underneath the arch on my brow and the matte one as a highlight under my brows.
The third color in the palette is a matte brown. It’s a little darker than your usual medium brown, but it’s not super extreme. If you prefer wearing super neutral looks during the day, this color could act as your darkest crease color. The fourth color is also a bit of a darker but not super dark brown with some shimmer to it. I really like this color!
The fifth color is my favorite one. It’s a very pretty warm gold color with a bit of brown to it and lots of shimmer. I love using this color all over the eyelid, it’s absolutely gorgeous. I really like how the shimmers make me look so much more awake than I actually am. When it comes to the crease colors, the sixth color in the palette is my favorite. This is the most gorgeous matte warm brown color I have ever seen. I just absolutely love it!
I really like that there are three matte shades and three shimmery shades in the palette, it’s a nice balance. This way you can create an all matte look with it, an all shimmery look or a combination. This way a lot more people are able to use this palette.
Normally I’m not a huge fan of Catrice eyeshadow because I feel like you blend them away. I don’t know if they have changed the way they make their eyeshadows or if it’s just this palette, but I really didn’t struggle with that when I used this palette. They blend perfectly. Not too easy but it’s also not hard to get rid of the harsh lines. I like that a lot about it!
The pigmentation of the shadows is what impressed me the most. I didn’t expect this palette to be this good. All shades, both the matte and the shimmery ones are perfectly pigmented. Not one of them let me down. Isn’t that impressive for such a budget proof palette? At least I’m impressed. On one hand I didn’t expect much from it because I’m not a huge fan of Catrice eyeshadows, but on the other hand I did expect a lot because the colors looked so good in the makeup tutorial I saw. But this, this is beyond my expectations.
The lasting power is pretty amazing too. If you use a good base underneath these shadows will stay gorgeous all day. They won’t lose any of their intensity and they won’t crease. I really like them!
Over all I think the perfect word to describe this palette is; impressive. I think Catrice did an amazing job on this palette. They really stepped up their game and I absolutely love it. I first of all adore the colors that are in this palette and second of all I think the quality is just amazing. Especially when you consider this palette costs only about 5 Euro’s!
The Catrice Chocolate Nudes Eyeshadow Palette is available at the drugstore for €4,99.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have tried anything from the new Catrice collection already!
