A few years ago I bought my first ever Revlon Lip Butter. They were so popular at the time, I just really wanted to try one. I bought the shade Peach Parfait and honestly, even though I really wanted to like it, I ended up never using it because I just hated the texture. But, despite my bad experience with them I decided to buy another shade and see if this one would work better for me. Today I’ll be reviewing it and I’ll be telling you whether or not I’m glad I gave the Revlon Lip Butter a second chance! If you’re interested in finding out, keep on reading!
First things first, the packaging. Let’s start off with saying I have mixed feelings about it. I do like the silver part and I like the fact that the packaging is square shaped because I feel like that’s super efficient storage wise, but I’m not a huge fan of the pattern on the lid to be honest. I don’t hate it, but I don’t really like it either. Because of that I have kind of mixed feelings about the packaging as a whole.
The color I bought is called Strawberry Shortcake. It’s a very pretty pink color with barely any shimmer in it, unlike the other color I own, Peach Parfait. I think the main reason why I hated the texture of Peach Parfait so much is because of the chunky glitters that are in there. You can literally feel the glitters when you apply the product. Because this one doesn’t have glitters to it like that one I was hoping I’d end up loving this one a lot more.
The thing that I do love about the lip butter concept is that these butters are moisturizing but they also add color to the lips. They’re basically just fancy tinted lipbalms and I love tinted lipbalms. I don’t think they’re like the same as normal tinted lipbalms because these have such a different texture, but it does basically the same thing and I like that. I like how you get two things done at once.
Because it’s a tinted lipbalm like product, the texture of this particular butter is really nice. It’s actually very buttery and soft and it really glides over your lips which feels really nice. I didn’t experience that with the other lip butter I own, which made me feel really disappointed, but I’m glad this one is different.
Pigmentation wise I think the Revlon Lip Butters are pretty decent. Like every other tinted lipbalm you won’t get super high pigmentation, but I don’t think anyone expects that from a product like that. I like that it’s just a wash of color instead of a full on bright pink shade, it’s a lot more wearable. It really opens up color options for me. I could wear super bright reds or deep berry shades without feeling like my lip color is a bit too overwhelming.
The finish is really nice as well. You can tell by just looking at it how moisturizing and glossy it is. I really like the way it feels on my lips. The best thing is that this lip butter is actually moisturizing. It makes my lips feel extra soft. I really feel like besides looking pretty this lip butter does something for me and I think that’s a very important thing as well.
Over all I can say I’m glad I gave the Revlon Lip Butter another shot. I’ve learned that I just like the versions without chunky glitter a lot better and that this version is actually amazing. I’m actually pretty excited to buy some more shades in the future because I think they are absolutely amazing. I really think products like this are amazing for the fall and winter time because I definitely need to put a little bit more effort into moisturizing my lips during those seasons.
The Revlon Lip Butters are available at stores like Boots, Superdrug and online for £7,99/€10,50.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you’ve tried the Revlon Lip Butters yet!
