For quite a long time I have been all about the Balea Mattifying Cream. I loved the way it worked and I used it every single day. But.. something in me still told me that there was something better out there. Something that would work even better, something that could control the oiliness just a bit better, and therefore I went on a hunt. I decided to give the Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturiser a try, and today I’ll be telling you how I liked it. If you’re interested in finding out, keep on reading!
The Origins GinZing moisturiser comes in a really pretty orange jar with a white lid. I really like the way it looks. It first of all represents the product really well, and second of all it looks just really pretty and exciting. I really like that it does look like a more expensive product, but not in a boring old lady kinda way, if you know what I mean with that. The GinZing moisturiser usually comes in a 50 ml jar, but this summer they had a limited edition 30 ml version as well, which is great if you’re not sure if this product will work for your skin.
Looking at what Origins tells us about this moisturiser you wouldn’t really say it’s great for oily skin. The GinZing moisturiser is actually made for those who struggle with dull and tired skin. It’s supposed to awaken and refresh your skin, which in most cases includes a healthy glow. Normally that would be a reason for me to back out, but after reading a few things about it, I decided to give it a try anyway.
The reason why I did it anyway is because it’s a gel-based moisturiser. Throughout the years I have learned that gel-based moisturisers are heaven for oily skin. They’re not as heavy, they’re not as thick and creamy and they’re not as rich as other moisturisers. Of course people with oily skin need moisture, but not as much as people with dry skin, who would benefit a lot more from thick and rich not gel-based moisturisers.
Besides that the Origins GinZing moisturiser has a few other good things about it which made me want to try it even more. This moisturiser for example has pretty good ingredients, has no animal ingredients in it and it’s tested on volunteer panels instead of animals. I think that’s quite an important thing and I like that a lot about it.
But now, onto the product itself. As you can tell from the picture, the product itself is white. It’s a gelly, relatively thin product which sinks into the skin super quickly and is very durable. A little bit of this goes a long way and therefore a little jar like this one will last you for ages. Especially when it comes to more expensive moisturisers, I think that’s very important.
Another special thing about this moisturiser is the scent. This moisturiser is supposed to be refreshing, which in most cases means it has a fresh scent to it. This one does as well. The moisturiser smells kind of like mandarins. It’s not a super typical scent, but I do really like it.
When it comes to making your skin look more awake I feel like this moisturiser does do an amazing job. Instead of adding lots and lots of shine, it actually does something to the skin which makes the actual skin look healthy instead of creating an artificial layer of glow. That is definitely one of the reasons why I like it so much.
Even though Origins doesn’t promise anything regarding mattifying the skin or keeping the oiliness under control, it does do a great job when it comes to that. I have tried many, many moisturisers throughout my life, but not a single one of them comes close to this moisturiser. It so weird that something that isn’t specifically made for your skin type works better than something that is, but honestly, as long as it works, I’m not complaining!
I think it’s pretty clear that I really enjoy using the Origins GinZing moisturiser. It smells great, I love the texture of the product and it does a pretty amazing job at keeping the oiliness under control while making my skin look more awake. I highly recommend this product to those of you who have oily/combination/normal skin or need something to make you look a little more alive in the morning!
The Origins GinZing Moisturiser is available at beauty stores and lookfantastic.com for €24,00/€33,36 (50 ml).
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which moisturiser you love using the most!

Dat klinkt echt super goed, ook al heb ik een droge huid. Is hij ook echt beter dan de Balea crème die je gebruikte?

[…] Origins GinZing Moisturiser – This summer I finally decided to try out a new moisturiser. That new moisturiser was the Origins GinZing moisturiser. It looked pretty good to me and I was curious to see what it would do for my skin. Turned out this is the moisturiser I was always looking for. It smells absolutely amazing, it moisturises my skin but doesn’t make it oily and it really does have a bit of an energy-boosting thing to it. […]
