A few collection updates ago, Catrice launched a new blush; the Illuminating Blush. I did like the way they looked, but I wasn’t blown away so I never really bought one. But after reading and hearing lots and lots of good things about them, I just couldn’t resist, I had to give it a try. So I went to the store and got myself a beautiful blush. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested, keep on reading!
The blush comes in a very basic and typical Catrice packaging. It’s made out of clear plastic and has silver letters on the front. I have discussed these packagings lots and lots of times before, so I’m not going into lots of detail again, but over all I’m not a huge fan of the packaging. I don’t hate it, but I just don’t love it either. It’s just not really my thing.
The blush comes in three different shades: “I Am Nuts About You”, “Coral Me Maybe” and “Kiss Me Ken”. All three are absolutely gorgeous, but I ended up just buying “Coral Me Maybe”. By the way guys, don’t you love it that Catrice always comes up with such cute names for their products? Catrice is definitely not one of my favourite brands, but I do really love that about them.
The main reason why this blush stood out to me when I saw it for the first time is because of the pattern. I don’t really know how they call patterns like this, but it reminds me of cable knit sweaters. I really like it. The fun thing about it is, is that the parts are not all in the same colour. The top and the bottom part are a little darker than the part in the middle. That does add a little extra something in my opinion.
Coral Me Maybe is, as you probably could have guessed already, a coral coloured blush. The blush has a settle shimmer to it, which I’m not too excited about, but since it’s pretty settle and it doesn’t show up, I don’t really bother the fact that it’s there. Aside from that it’s a pretty basic blush, which is looks a little bit more special than your regular blush just because of the pattern.
On the back of the packaging Catrice tells us a little bit more about this blush range. It says the following:
“Blush with subtle shimmer and pearl effect for a radiant and defined complexion. Perfectly highlights cheek bones and creates a fresh look”.
I feel like the radiant and defined complexion is just a lie. I personally haven’t experienced that at all and I feel like they just put that there to make it sound more interesting. The fresh look part however, is quite true. Because Coral Me Maybe is such a fresh and healthy looking colour, you will end up with a fresh looking face after applying this, but I wonder if that’s also the case if you buy one of the other two colours.
Pigmentation wise it’s okay. It might seem quite good on the swatch, but when you apply it to the skin it’s actually pretty settle. This blush doesn’t give you a lot of actual colour on your skin, but, as I mentioned before, it does add that fresh looking effect. Even though I like that effect, I do wish the colour pay off would be a bit better, I do like a bit of colour on the cheeks.
Over all I think Catrice didn’t do a bad job at all when it comes to this blush. I do feel like they tried to make it sound way more special than it actually is, but it’s definitely not a bad blush. It’s not a blush I gravitate towards a lot, but if you want to create that no makeup-makeup look, this might be a great product to use!
The Catrice Illuminating Blush is available at the drugstore for €3,99.
That was it for today’s review. I hope you enjoyed reading it, and let me know which blush you are obsessed with at the moment!
Is it possible to build up the color on the cheeks? I agree ~ I really like the pattern! 🙂

Het is echt een schattig kleurtje! Lekker roze.

Shame on me!
