L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks

L'Oreal Caresse Lipsticks

Years ago, when I missed my bus and I had to wait another 20 minutes for a new one to arrive, I decided to check out the nearest drugstore for a bit. I really wanted a new lipstick and I ended up buying the, at that time new, L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipstick. I was so excited about it that I immediately applied it and I was all kinds of disappointed. At that time I wasn’t too familiar with makeup and lipsticks and I certainly didn’t get the whole sheer lipstick thing that I love so much now. Years later I decided to give that lipstick another try and that was the day I realised it was absolutely amazing. Now, a few years after that moment I finally decided to add two more colours to my collection, and today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether or not these two colours are just as amazing as the first one I bought, keep on reading!

L'Oreal Caresse Lipstick Packaging

L'Oreal Caresse Lipsticks Colors

The L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks come in a plastic and shiny packaging. After all these years I’m still not a 100% sure whether I love the packaging or I hate it, but at this point I have just accepted that. It’s the way it is and nothing will change that. The top of the lid has a bright colour that is, I guess, supposed to represent the colour of the lipstick, but kind of fails at that and on the bottom you’ll find a sticker ,that does represent the colour of the lipstick very well, with the name of the colour on it.

The two colours I bought are called Dating Coral and Aphrodite Scarlet. Dating Coral is a colour that has been on my wishlist from the day these lipsticks were launched, and Aphrodite Scarlet just looked really good to me. Let’s get into them!

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick Red

Let’s start off with Aphrodite Scarlet. Aphrodite Scarlet is one of the prettiest, and one of the few, red lipsticks I own. I normally stay away from red lipsticks for a few reasons. One of which is that they make my teeth appear even more yellow than they already are and another reason being that I’m just not that into super bright lip colours. The reason why I did decide to buy this red colour is because the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks have this very nice feature that you can decide yourself how opaque you want it to be. If you just want a nice touch of colour, just go over your lips once, if you feel like a bright lip, go over your lips twice or maybe three times and there you go.

Another reason why I like Aphrodite Scarlet so much is because it’s not just another plain red lip colour, it’s a little more special than that. It’s not berry as in purply, it’s berry as in a sweet berry, like a strawberry. It has that pinky tone to it, while still being red. I love that a lot!

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Red

For this swatch I just applied one layer of lipstick. That’s the way I love wearing it the most. As I mentioned before, the colour is buildable. On days I feel a little more daring, I do like applying another layer or two and the colour will be a lot more opaque and pigmented. I just love it so much that it’s your choice if you want it to be pigmented or not and that this way it’s the perfect lipstick for both nude as well as bright lip colour fans.

The finish of the lipstick is something I really love about these L’Oreal lipsticks as well. They are shiny, smooth kind of glossy, but not in a “I applied 10 litres of lipgloss at once” kind of way. It looks natural and healthy and it makes your lips look really nice.

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick Coral Calling

Onto the second colour, Dating Coral. As the name already suggests, Dating Coral is a very pretty coral colour. It’s a lot more natural and wearable than Aphrodite Scarlet is, but it’s definitely not less exciting. I feel like colours like this look good on lots of people and look great with lots of different looks. You can use it when you’re going for an all natural look, for a work appropriate look but you can also use it for a night out when you already have a lot going on on the eyes and you want to keep your lips on the more natural side.

The reason why Dating Coral wasn’t the first colour I bought from this range is because at the time I thought it wouldn’t look good on me and in the tube it didn’t look as appealing as on the pictures I had seen online. The reason why I ended up buying it anyway is because throughout the years I have learned that not everything is what it seems like, especially not when you’re talking lipsticks and at some point you just have to go ahead and give things a try, even if you’re not sure it will end well.

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Coral Calling

But luckily, this time it did end well. This lipstick is one of my absolute favourites. I actually feel like I should wear it even more often than I already do, since it’s such a versatile and gorgeous colour. The pigmentation is again buildable, which I still really like and the finish is as gorgeous as always.

Besides the nice finish and the pigmentation thing, this lipstick has another plus to it. It’s actually pretty moisturising. While lots of lipsticks tend to be really drying or just don’t do anything, this lipstick makes my lips feel very smooth, soft and moisturised and I love that a lot.

L'Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks

I think this won’t really come as a surprise, but I absolutely love the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse lipsticks. The colours are gorgeous, the finish is nice and it even moisturises your lips. I also love that you get the freedom of deciding how pigmented you want it to be and I love that Dating Coral is such a versatile colour. I really don’t get why these aren’t too popular, these lipsticks are the best!

The L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks are available at the drugstore for €14,95.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have already given these lipsticks a try!

  1. Super leuke producten!

🙂 Mooie swatches!

  3. […] L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipstick in Coral Calling – For years I have been loving the L’Oreal Rouge Caresse Lipsticks, but this particular one in the shade Coral Calling is by far my favourite out of the ones I have tried. It’s the worlds prettiest coral colour and again it’s so comfortable to wear. I highly recommend this one! […]
