L’Oreal’s True Match foundations has been one of the most well-known foundations for as long as I can remember. I wouldn’t call it a hyped up product, but at least everyone knew about it. After years and years of keeping the foundation just the way it is, L’Oreal decided to renew it, which leads us to the new L’Oreal Perfect Match foundation. Because I loved the True Match foundation I decided I just had to try this new version as well, and so I did. Today it’s time for the review. If you’re interested in finding out whether they did a good thing renewing their True Match foundation or not, keep on reading!
Let’s start off with the packaging. (In Europe) the True Match foundation came in a kind of odd shaped glass bottle with a silver pump. It was slightly rounded at the top and at the bottom and in the middle part was smaller. This new version comes in a rectangular shaped glass bottle with a square shaped pump. I absolutely love the look of it. It looks really professional and kind of luxurious and the shape is very convenient, storage wise.
One thing I loved about the good old True Match foundation and kind of dislike about this new Perfect Match foundation is the colour selection. The True Match had a wide range of colours. They had different undertones and there were options for everyone, whether you were really pale like I am or slightly darker. The Perfect Match foundation, however, isn’t really like that. They do have a bigger variety of shades than some other drugstore foundations, but it isn’t the way it used to be. The lightest shade I could find is 1.5 N Linnen, which is actually a tad bit on the dark side for me, but I can work with it.
On to the product itself. The old True Match foundation used to be pretty thin and super easy to blend. With this new version that’s almost the same. I feel like the texture is a teeny tiny bit thicker than it used to be, but it’s still pretty thin and runny and, most importantly, super, super easy to blend. I really like that about it. It’s not a foundation which requires a lot of hard work and effort, which makes it perfect for those of you who are always in a rush while applying makeup.
The fun thing is, when you feel the texture of this foundation, you wouldn’t think it would have great coverage. ‘Cause how can something so thin and fluid cover up a lot? Well, I don’t know how, but it does. To be honest this foundation is my new absolute favourite holy grail foundation. I have to be honest and tell you guys I don’t really have lots of trouble areas on my skin so if you do, you might feel a little different about this foundation perhaps, but for me this creates the most perfect, flawless effect on my skin. The coverage is great (medium) and the finish is just stunning.
I used to really enjoy using the True Match foundation, mainly because the shade matched me so well, but also because of the great finish, but this new version you guys. It’s absolutely amazing. I got so excited after the first time I used it. I really didn’t expect this foundation to be super special, but it was. It really gives you that flawless finish, almost like your skin has been photoshopped. Love, love, love it!
Another amazing thing about this foundation is that it lasts literally all day. I use it in combination with my beloved Nivea Aftershave Balm and when I do, this foundation doesn’t budge at all. I have worn in on a very long day and it survived everything. It survived studying, living and even work. I am so impressed. The great thing about it is that it doesn’t even loose the flawless finish or a bit of coverage. Nope, after 10 hours it still looks exactly the same as it did after 1 hour. It’s amazing.
I think it’s pretty clear that I am in love with this foundation. I honestly don’t think it’s very different from the old True Match foundation. The only difference I notice is that this foundation has a prettier finish and is a tad bit thicker, but aside from that it’s pretty much the same. But, I have to say, that’s not a bad thing at all. It’s the best foundation I have tried so far, and trust me I have tried many. This is definitely a new holy grail. I’m so glad I decided to gave it a try. I highly recommend it!
The L’Oreal Perfect Match Foundation is available at the drugstore for €10,95/€16,99.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know which foundation is your current holy grail!
