Stila Color Balm Lipsticks

Stila Color Balm Lipstick Tube

Ever since I bought my first Stila palette I have been in love with the brand. The quality is just so amazing and the packagings look absolutely stunning. While shopping at the recently opened TK Maxx with my friends I came across some gorgeous Stila lipstick and decided to take them with me. If you’re interested in finding out if I like these two lipsticks just as much as I like the palettes, keep on reading!

Stila Color Balm Lipsticks

First things first, the packaging. The Stila lipsticks come in brown boxes. On the box it tells you something about the lipstick and about the things it is supposed to do. The box doesn’t completely cover the lipstick, so through the packaging you’re able to the the front of the lipstick.

The lipsticks themselves come in super shiny silver packagings. On the front the name of the brand is carved out. Because the inside of the lid is covered in colourful plastic, you’ll see the colour through the letters. The colour of the letters match the colour of the lipstick, which I think is very nice.

Overall I do quite like the packagings. They don’t feel super, super luxurious, but I do like the look of them. They are shiny, which is always a good thing and I love how they designed the lid. It has something special to it and I like that a lot!

Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Betsey

Let’s start off with the first colour. The first one I grabbed is called Betsey. Betsey is a very, very, very bright pink colour with a purple undertone. I usually only wear neutral lipsticks, so this is quite an extreme colour for me, but to be honest, I do really like it. I barely have any bright lipsticks in my collection and I really want to change that.

Even though I was very excited to try Betsey out, I was also kind of nervous. I was scared it would turn out to be a very ugly type of bright pink instead of the pretty type, but there was nothing to worry about. I have to say I actually quite liked the way it looked on me. It made me look very put together and it made me look wide awake.

The fact that these lipsticks are called ‘Color Balm Lipsticks’ made me really excited. I absolutely love it when lipsticks are balmy and caring, I love the way that feels on my lips and I love that they moisturise  my  lips while making them look colourful and pretty. These ones do a really amazing job at that. I feel like these are better at moisturising my lips than 70% of my actual lipbalms are.

A great little feature about this lipstick which I really like is that it smells like peppermint. First of all because I really like the scent of peppermint, but also because it feels really great on the lips. It tingles just a little tiny bit, but in a good way.

Stila Color Balm Lipstick in Natasha

The second colour I got is called Natasha.  Natasha is another very extreme lipstick. It’s a dark brick red colour with a hint of berry. It’s nothing like the colours I would usually go for and it’s not a colour I really adore in general, but with the holidays coming up I thought it might be nice to give it a try. I mean, if you never try, you’ll never know, right?

Even though I do like this colour more than other brick red colours, there is something I strongly dislike about it. That is that it makes your teeth look a bit more yellow than they already are. I have had pretty yellow teeth all my life and a few months ago I finally bleached them. I am so glad they’re finally closer to the shade I would like them to be, so anything that ruins that is just a no-go for me.

However, I do like the way it looks on the lips (with my mouth closed). It’s quite a vampy and dark colour, and it will make your skin look a lot paler than it actually is, but it is pretty. It does have something special to it. It kinda makes me look like snow white.

The only thing I did struggle with with this lipstick is applying it. Because the lipstick is quite thick and super buttery it was pretty hard for me to apply it neatly because it moved so easily over the lip area. However, I didn’t struggle with that at all while applying Betsey, so it could also just be me, but I did want to mention it.

Stila Color Balm Lipsticks Betsey and Natasha Lip Swatches

Pigmentation wise these two lipsticks are absolutely incredible. These are the richest, creamiest and most buttery lipsticks that have ever touched my lips. I’m in love with them. They are so smooth and comfortable to wear, you honestly don’t even feel them on your lips at all.

The great thing is that even though they are so extremely buttery and rich they do really stay in place. They don’t bleed at all and they won’t slip and slide everywhere when you press your lips together. The only thing you should be careful with is touching the lips. These lipsticks do transfer onto basically anything really easily, so if you’re wearing this lipstick, especially when you’re wearing a bright (red) shade, make sure you’re careful when it comes to touching anything if you don’t want everything to be covered in red lipstick.

Stila Lipstikcs Color Balm

Aside from the fact that Natasha was a little difficult to apply, I absolutely adore these lipsticks. I don’t know why I was so impressed by the MAC lipsticks, because this is just way better. These are so extremely comfortable to wear, they are extremely rich and buttery and they really moisturise your lips. I think these are the most incredible lipsticks out there and I highly recommend, if you feel like buying a high end lipstick, going for one of the Stila Color Balms!

The Stila Color Balm Lipsticks are available at Beautybay.com for €22,10.

That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have ever tried one of the Stila lipsticks!

  1. Geweldige pigmentatie! En fijn dat ze je lippen een beetje zacht houden. Maar jammer dat je vindt dat de rode niet goed bij je tanden past, die vind ik juist het mooist!
