When it comes to powders, the Rimmel Stay Matte powder is one of the most popular ones in the world. I’ve heard about if from almost every single Youtuber/blogger ever and since I really struggle with oiliness I wanted to give it a try too. I bought my first packaging about 5 years ago and a few months ago I started my second one. A while ago I realised that I never really reviewed it, so I decided to do so today. If you’re interested in finding out more about this powder and if it’s really worth the hype, keep on reading!
The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder comes in a fairly simple packaging. The bottom part is made out of yellowy beige coloured plastic and the lid is just clear. Even though it’s so simple I still really like it. It’s convenient, easy to work with, it doesn’t take in too much space and it just works. I really like it.
The Stay Matte Powder comes in a ton of different shades, I used to have it in Pink Blossom and now in the shade Transparent. Both shades are light enough for my super pale skin which I really like and appreciate.
Even though this one is called Transparent, this powder isn’t actually transparent. It is very light, but it still has a touch of colour to it. I have to say that I can’t really tell the difference between this shade and pink blossom, so if the shade you wanted is sold out I don’t think you should worry about it too much and just get one shade lighter or darker.
The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is, as the name already suggests, a mattifying powder. I personally always use it on top of my foundation, but if you have great skin you could use it on its own as well. Usually I prefer using loose powders to keep my skin matte throughout the day since those just work better for me, but when you’re on the go a pressed powder like this one can definitely come in handy.
The powder itself is very lightweight and doesn’t look powdery or cakey on the skin. In fact it looks very natural and nearly invisible once applied. I really like that about it, but for me the fact that it’s so lightweight and barely even there is also a bad thing. That because I just need quite a lot of powder in order to keep my face matte. Therefore powdery powders like loose powders just work a little bit better for me. This one isn’t like that and therefore it doesn’t keep me matte as well as a loose powder would.
Because of that I don’t use this powder as my everyday finishing powder, but I do use it if I want to touch up. For me it’s just not mattifying enough. However, if you have more combination or normal skin, this powder could work really well for you. But if you have really oily skin, you might want to look for something else.
Overall I think the Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is a great powder, but it’s not enough if you have super oily skin like I do. It’s great as a touch up powder and it’s a perfect powder to just throw in your bag and take with you when you’re going out, but for me that’s pretty much it. However if you have normal to combination skin, this powder will definitely be enough for you can could really be a great one for you. So in that case, I’d recommend giving it a try. If you have oily skin like me, you might want to skip this one.
The Rimmel Stay Matte Powder is available at the drugstore for €9,95.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you have ever tried the Rimmel Stay Matte powder and if so be sure to let me know how you liked it!

I was gonna try this out but since I have oily skin, I’ve changed my mind. Awesome review 😊👍
Hier hoor ik veel goed over!
Great review! I totally get what you mean about it not being overly mattifying, I have relatively dry skin so I like to use this to just set my concealer. For that, I find it works really well so I’d definitely recommend it for normal/combination/dry skin as you said 🙂 Great post!
HIj is favoriet bij veel mensen. Goed product…zeker weten.
Lovely post! I’ve been meaning to try this powder out.
Ik was altijd al benieuwd hier naar omdat bijna iedereen zó enthousiast hierover is! Ik ga het misschien wel proberen omdat ik droge tot normale huid heb. Thanks 🙂
