When it comes to Limited Edition collections Essence is one of my favourite brands. Their limited editions are always absolutely amazing. Last Wednesday when I went to the drugstore I spotted Essence’s new Christmas limited edition called “Merry Berry”. Because all of the products looked so good to me I decided to take some of them with me. Today I’m going to be reviewing four products from this gorgeous limited edition. If you’re interested in finding out more about the products, keep on reading!
Let’s start off with my favourite products from this collection: the lipsticks. There are a total of three lipsticks available and I decided to buy two of them. The reason why I didn’t buy the third one as well is because I’m 100% sure I’ll never ever wear it again after taking pictures of it and I don’t want to waste my money like that. The other two colours are also slightly out of the box for me, but definitely colours I would wear if I feel like going for a brighter lip.
The Essence Merry Berry lipsticks come in really pretty packagings. The colour of the packaging matches the colour of the lipstick and has a really nice semi-matte finish going on. The metal part of the packaging is gold which I think is really pretty. Overall I really like the look of the packagings. I think they look festive and playful and I like that look.
The first colour I chose is called 02 Pink & Perfect. Pink & Perfect is a very pretty deep berry shade with a purple undertone. It’s not a colour I would usually go for, but I do like the way colours like this look on me and I have been wanting to buy something like this for a while, so I’m glad I found this shade.
I do have to say that on the lips, Pink & Perfect looks way more pink than it does in the packaging. It still is a very bright and extreme colour, but it’s not as purple as it seems, which makes it a bit more wearable in my opinion.
The other shade I bought is called 03 Red Rocks. This might be my favourite one out of the two. I barely own any red lipsticks so it was time for me to change that. I don’t know too much about red lipsticks, but in my opinion this type of red looks the best on me. It doesn’t make me look super duper snow white-like pale and it doesn’t make my teeth look yellow.
I think Red Rocks is the perfect classic red that could be used to spice up any look. I think it’s a perfect lipstick for the holidays and therefore I like that it’s in this collection. It’s definitely an essential in my collection, especially during this holiday season.
Pigmentation wise these two lipsticks are just incredible. I already loved the Essence Long Lasting Lipsticks and the Sheer & Shine Lipsticks by Essence, but these are even more amazing. These lipsticks are so soft and creamy, they are very smooth and glide over the lips so easily. I also really like that they don’t accentuate the dry patches on my lips and that they are so comfortable to wear.
The thing with most Essence lipsticks is that they don’t stay in place too long. I love them, but that’s just the truth. However, these two lipsticks are a different story. One of my friends bought the shade I didn’t end up buying and she wore it while we were having dinner. She ate an entire pizza and drank a glass of coke and afterwards the lipstick was still on her lips, just as intense as before the meal. I’m very impressed by that!
Overall I think the Essence Merry Berry Lipsticks are amazing. The colours are absolutely gorgeous and the texture feels amazing. They are so soft and creamy and super comfortable to wear. I’m also very, very impressed by the staying power and therefore I highly recommend giving these lipsticks a try, they are amazing!
The Essence Merry Berry Lipsticks are available at the drugstore for €2,39.
Onto the highlighter. The limited edition highlighters by Essence are by far my favourite budget proof highlighters ever. They are first of all absolutely gorgeous because they always have some kind of a nice pattern going on, and the quality is just incredible. Therefore it’s not a surprise I bought the highlighter from this Merry Berry collection as well.
The highlighter is called 01 I Love My Golden Pumps and comes in the same packaging as all other Essence LE highlighters. It’s made out of clear plastic and has a domed lid. I don’t necessarily like the packaging, but I don’t hate it either. It doesn’t look luxurious or professional, but it’s not cheapish either. I’m neutral.
The thing I love most about this highlighter is the gorgeous star pattern that is going on. I like that it’s 3 dimensional and I think it really adds that festive feeling. The highlighter itself is a very pretty champagne gold colour and it has a very pretty sheen to it. Colour wise this is one of my favourite highlighters ever. I think it’s absolutely stunning and perfect for the holidays.
The texture of the highlighter is really nice as well. It’s not too powdery but it does have enough colour pay off in order to show up on your skin. It’s very soft and easy to blend and it’s not too extreme. I really like it and I honestly think it’s a great highlighter for those of you who are just starting to experiment with highlighter and don’t want to start off with something expensive.
The Essence Merry Berry Highlighter Powder is available at the drugstore for €3,39.
And lastly I bought one of the eyeshadows from the collection. The one I bought is called 01 The Perfect Dress and comes in a similar packaging to the highlighter, but it’s a lot smaller. This eyeshadow has a very pretty pattern going on that makes it a little extra special.
The Perfect Dress is a very pretty taupe coloured eyeshadow. It’s not extremely pigmented and therefore it’s not too dark to act as an all over eyelid shade. I think it’s very pretty and wearable for everyday, but I don’t think it’s the best eyeshadow Essence has ever created. I’m definitely not regretting the fact that I purchased it, since I really love the colour, but if you’re used to Urban Decay/MAC/Inglot/Too Faced quality, this won’t impress you.
The Essence Merry Berry Eyeshadow in 01 The Perfect Dress is available at the drugstore for €1,99.
Here are the swatches of the highlighter and the eyeshadow. The lighter swatch (the one on the left) is the highlighter and the other one is the eyeshadow. As you can tell the highlighter is pretty pigmented, especially when you compare it to the eyeshadow, which should be way more pigmented than the highlighter.
Overall I think the pigmentation of both products isn’t bad, but the eyeshadow could have been a lot better. But, I have to say, I do like the look of the eyeshadow when you put it on top of another one, it can create a really pretty effect.
So, overall I really like the Essence Merry Berry Collection. I really like the lipsticks, they are even better than the lipsticks from the normal collection which I think are amazing as well and I really like the colours. The highlighter definitely didn’t disappoint me either. It adds a gorgeous glow to the skin and the star pattern is really pretty. The eyeshadow isn’t my favourite one ever, but I don’t hate it. I like the colour and I like to look of it when I use it as a topcoat on top of another eyeshadow.
That was it for today. I hope you enjoyed reading today’s review and let me know if you bought anything from this gorgeous Merry Berry Trend Edition!
Leuke collectie he!
