Drawer organizers tend to be pretty overpriced in my opinion, but they are necessary. Therefore I decided to create my own drawer organizers and today I’ll will show you guys how I did that. It’s really simple and seriously super inexpensive. If you’re interested, keep on reading!
What you’ll need:
– A pair of scissors
– Paper
– Empty (cereal)box
– Glue/tape
Step 1. Choose a box you think will fit perfectly in your drawer and decide how high you want it to be. I made mine 7,5 cm high because that’s perfect for my drawers, but you can obviously make them higher or lower.
Step 2. Trace a line around the box where where you want to cut it. Because I’m incapable of making straight lines I used a ruler for this, but you don’t have to.
Step 3. Cut the box where you want to cut it. You’ll end up with something looking like this.
Step 4. Because this doesn’t look attractive to me I decided to cover it in paper. You can keep it like this if you want to. I used patterned paper with a shiny finish which I bought, but you can also print a pattern you like and cover your box with that.
It took me quite some time to cover the entire in- and outside, but once you get the hang of it you should be pretty easy. I used tape to make it stick to the box because I didn’t have any glue lying around, but you can use glue as well.
When you’re done you can put whatever you want in your little drawer organizer. For example your everyday makeup, moisturisers but you could also use it to store your pencils.
By the way you can use both the top and bottom part of your cereal box. Just close the top with some tape and you’re good to go.
I also made another one using empty candy boxes like this one. This way you can create different sizes. I really like the way it turned out. I feel like smaller boxes like these are also very useful to store slightly smaller things and to fill up the empty spaces in your drawers.
Besides using them in your drawers you can also use them as a pencil or brush holder. Isn’t that adorable? I love them so much I ended up making 10 of them. I now have an entire drawer filled with these super cute and colorful organizers. Besides the fact that it’s practically free it’s also great for the environment!
I hope you liked this DIY as much as I loved making these little drawer organizers. Let me know if you would like to see more DIY’s!
